M&S Funeral Caregivers offers a diverse funeral policies that suit our Africans. After realising that most of our Africans have a number of funeral policies that are mostly in cash but not including physical grocery plans that can assist to run a whole funeral service, from day 1 of arrangements till the day of burial or even after that. We fits in to offer less in price funeral policies that can include Children, Spouse, Parents, Grand Parents, Siblings, Uncles, Aunties and Cousins to ensure a fitting farewell for your loved ones.

Knowing that in our African cultures groceries is one of the most needed items we use during arrangements for burial, day of burial and after burial we guarantee sufficient groceries in time.

Membership Terms & Conditions

Important information about your membership and benefits

DECLARATION OF UNDERSTANDING

By becoming a member of M&S Funeral Caregivers, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

  • I hereby confirm that the agent has provided me with satisfactory details of his relevant experience and assisted me in completing the application form and in understanding all the terms and conditions as stipulated in this document..
  • The benefits of this membership have been explained to me in detail and I understand and desire such benefits.
  • The monthly contribution as indicated is affordable within my current monthly budget.
  • Full membership underwriting details and terms and conditions as well as complete commission and admin fee breakdown available on membership certificate/membership acceptance letter.
  • Membership certificate/membership acceptance letter available on www.pioneerfuneral.co.za/admin
  • I accept and understand the contents of this declaration.

CLAIMS PROCEDURE

To ensure efficient processing of claims, please follow these guidelines:

  • Claims must be lodged within three (3) months of date of death. Failure to submit the claim within this time, may render the claim null and void.
  • Pioneer Funeral Administrators reserves the right to request a BI – 1663 or a medical certificate.
  • No claims will be allowed for Invalid ID numbers.

Important: For pre-need plans, additional documentation regarding pre-arrangements with the funeral home may be required. Please contact our claims department for specific requirements related to your plan.

CLAIM REQUIREMENTS

The following documents are required to process a claim:

  • Deceased’s certified copy of death certificate.
  • Deceased’s certified copy of ID
  • BI – 1663
  • Policy Holder’s certified copy of ID
  • Beneficiary’s certified copy of ID
  • Proof of Premium payments
  • Proof of Police report if is accidental death
  • Bank statement of claimant if claim is cash

Incomplete claims will not be processed until all required documents are submitted. Digital copies are acceptable for initial submission, but originals may be requested for verification.

WAITING PERIODS

The following waiting periods apply to all memberships:

  • A six (6) month waiting period will apply for members up to the age of 64. After the receipt of the seventh (7th) contribution, in the seventh (7th) month, the full benefit will apply.(Single and Family plan)
  • A six (6) month waiting period will apply for members of all our 1+ Plans under R10 000 pay-out, After the receipt of the seventh (7th) contribution, in the seventh (7th) month, the full benefit will apply.
  • A nine (9) month waiting period will apply for over R10 000 1+ plan. After the receipt of the tenth (10th) month, the full benefit will apply.
  • A nine (9) month waiting period will apply for members between the ages of 65 - 74. After the receipt of the tenth (10th) contribution, in the tenth (10th) month, the full benefit will apply.(Single and Family plan).
  • In the event of suicide a twenty-four (24) months waiting period will apply.
  • The dependent’s membership will cease upon the death of the Principle member.
  • A one (1) month waiting period will apply if a member dies within the standard waiting period because of an accident.
  • If a payment is outstanding, the membership will lapse and the applicable waiting period will start from the date that the payments resumed.(under trial)

Note: Waiting periods are calculated from the date of first premium payment or membership activation, whichever is later. Members are encouraged to maintain continuous coverage to avoid new waiting periods.

The maximum entry age for Grocery, Beef and Cash 1+ plans is under 75 years.

Age restrictions apply to certain plans as follows:

  • Maximum age at entry for Extended Family is 85 years.
  • Contributions are payable monthly in advance in full, to ensure membership for the month. Cover is afforded on a month to month basis.
  • This cover is provided to all members recorded on the monthly schedule.
  • No reserves are build up on these plans, therefore contributions are payable lifelong.
  • Cover will cease automatically upon the non-payment of contribution and the membership will lapse.
  • There are no surrender values when cover ceases.
  • Mentally impaired as well as permanently and totally physically disabled children are covered until their death or as long as the Principle member participates in this plan.
  • Common law as well as civil marriages is recognized by the Plan.
  • Membership application forms must be fully and accurately completed.
  • Should it come to the attention of Pioneer Funeral Administrators that any of the information provided in this document is not accurate, membership under this application may be cancelled and no claims under this plan will be considered for payment.
  • No Duplicate accepted
  • ⦁No Payment = No Cover and a waiting period of 3 month will apply if you skip a payment.
  • Your premium payment must be paid before the 7th of a new month if you did not pay in a normal month
  • Your policy will LAPSE after skipping 3 consecutive payments.
  • Our grocery is valued up to R7500. NB: Should the grocery value amount exceed, client will be given the opportunity to select the necessity to stick to the value amount not more. Reasons for this is because the prices of goods depreciate from time to time.

We reserve the right to request additional medical information for applicants over 65 years to determine appropriate coverage and premiums.

What is the Beef Plan and why is it important?

The Beef Plan is specifically designed for our African traditions and cultural practices. As we all know, running a funeral in African culture often requires purchasing a cow to properly honor and feed mourners during the funeral proceedings.

With M&S Funeral Caregivers, we ensure that you have this essential aspect covered. By joining our Beef Plan, you'll know exactly where the money for the cow will come from, eliminating stress and uncertainty during difficult times.

What is the E-Coupon benefit and how does it work?

The main member(Policy Holder) will receive a coupon link to their cell phone to the value of up to R750 per month for each retailer.

Save up to R750 on your monthly grocery bill by using our grocery e-Coupon on a range of groceries which are redeemable at selected Shoprite, Checkers, Checkers Hyper, Pick n Pay and Dischem stores.
Show the e-Coupon to the cashier and claim your discount on every product

How it works:

  • Each month when your premium is received, you'll get an SMS with your E-Coupon
  • The E-Coupon contains selected grocery items with special discounts
  • You open the link, get a unique code, and present it to the cashier
  • The listed items will be discounted automatically
